"Summertime"...NKOTB

"Do you remember,
Or should I rewind,
To that summer when you caught my eye,
I played it cool,
The weather was hot,
You had the beauty and the beach on lock.

With your flip flops, half shirt, short shorts, mini skirt,
Walkin' on the beach, so pretty,
You wasn't lookin' for a man,
When you saw me in the sand,
But you fell for the boy from the city.

I was like, "hey, girl, can I get your number"
I remember what you told me too, "Don't call after ten"
But you know that I did,
'Cause I couldn't stop thinkin' 'bout you.

I think about you in the summertime, (Oh oh)
And all the good times we had, baby,
Been a few years and I can't deny, (Oh oh)
The thought of you still makes me crazy,
I think about you in the summertime, (Oh oh)
I'm sittin' here in the sun with you on my mind.
You're my, my summertime..."

Last night, I met up w/Perfect Ten and J*. For the most part, it was a blast; catching up, some good laughs and walking down memory lane. If it weren’t for J*’s incessant non stop ridiculous stories, it would have been awesome, ha. J* has a history of talking too much, sharing ridiculous stories that are most likely exaggerated if not sometimes flat out lies and all in all, showcasing her insecurities about herself, life and status. A good friend and yes, semi-entertaining but most definitely is a friend that should be hung out with in small doses, for sure. But it wasn’t even her stories that killed me but it was supposed to be Perfect Ten’s night, updating us about her engagement, trip down south and her new ‘status’. What it was, was J* or myself inquiring for more details from Perfect Ten and then J* jumping in about stories that remotely had to do with what we were discussing and then going off on tangents about this and that. Again, for the most part – fun but slightly annoying and it got worse when J* invited her bf for ‘the show’. It just became the ‘J*’ show…. Oh well, at least we were drinking and overall was fun to see both girls.

So, I think I have a crush. I have heard of man-crushes, the kind that men get when they respect, like and sometimes want to be ‘that guy’. I think I have a girl crush, ha. Not the kind that you want to date (straight lady here, ha) or the kind that interestingly enough or maybe not interestingly, Tyra B had on her show this week (I saw a preview for it on my day off, ha) about straight girls wanting to go lesbian for another girl. But it’s the kind of crush where you emulate her, want to know more about and have a general fascination with. In all honesty, I think I’ve had 1 before. I’ll reiterate again, not interested in romantic affairs but just interested in who she is, what kind of person she is, what she does and wears, etc - weird.

The first interest was a bubbly, care free, cute and friendly girl. I didn’t know her well but from what I knew of her and the small times we interacted, she fascinated me. There was a general aura about her that drew people to her; that’s cool. The most recent is a girl who is just ‘that girl’. She is put together, disciplined, also care free, intelligent, easy going and both cute and beautiful (a rare find in girls, in my opinion). I think I’m fascinated either because these ladies possess what I want to be or have similar traits as me, I haven’t decided yet.

As a very off note, I received an email from Older Brother stating that my niece who is 6 yrs old, now has a blog. Seriously, since when do 6 yr olds have blogs!? She named the blog herself, which of course has to do w/ fashion, seriously – that girl is going to be a SJP from SATC when she gets older, she lives for fashion now and she’s 6!? (the girl has gone to bed in ‘fashion’!) And, she writes her own posts, clearly – as the words are mis-spelled and in all honesty, I’m not even sure what she is saying in some of her posts, ha. But it’s cute, all pink – of course and she has some cute pics posted of her and her friends, it’s krazy and maybe just might the ‘sign of the times’. ha
